I am thankful for….

Each day I witness reasons to be thankful.  Still the last Thursday in November forces me to pause.  It is precious time to stand serene and look around.  Open eyes to the apparent and hidden. For that special day, a list…grateful images of the heart:

Nurses, police, fireman and first responders who leave their homes

The problem of too many cancer survivors

Brilliant crisp fall morning holding birds anxious in flight as they cry adieu

Six partners, we fight the cancer war

My health and the opportunity to guard it

Those that survive the fury of earth, wind and water

Intimate small gatherings with mashed potatoes, hot

Grand raucous gatherings with plentiful leftovers, cold

Increasing cancer cure rates

Leaf colors rain as curtains rise on autumn hills

Those that stand post to protect freedom

2 million Americans more than 90 years old

Memories of those gone and the living gifts they leave

Glass of Scotch, neat

The healing power of the human spirit on body and soul

The stethoscope

The splendor of music

Apoptosis

Patient and student mentors

The smoke alarm during festive cooking

Miracle medicines

The honor of serving this remarkable community

A warm fire, warm home, warm bed

The brief blessing of life

The United States of America

Kim, Greg, Scott, Nancy, Dick, Sophie

Dreams

Happy Thanksgiving,
